Passaic County, NJ, Bans Wild or Exotic Animal Circus Acts - National Humane Education Society

pawsupPaws Up!

To the Passaic County Board of Freeholders in New Jersey for banning wild and exotic animal circus acts on county properties.

Wonder overcomes us as we behold wild and exotic animals.  The regal stance of the elephant, the sheer power of the lion, and the exquisitetiger-165189_1280 colors of the macaw captivate us. However, these animals deserve their freedom, not a life in captivity. Throughout the United States, many cities  have banned circus and other exotic animal displays as a means of curbing the suffering, boredom, and sometimes abuse of animals  being used for live entertainment.  According to a recent news article, the Passaic County Board of Freeholders in New Jersey has evoked change by passing a law to ban wild or exotic animal circus acts from being performed on county properties.
