To Phoenix, AZ city councilmembers for passing a dog tethering law.dog-1378174_1280

How would you like to be chained outside not being able to get reprieve from the hot sun, rain, or get a drink of fresh water? These are some of the things that dogs encounter when they are continuously tethered outside. Responsible companion animal ownership takes into consideration the well-being of your dog.

According to a recent news article, City Councilwoman Thelda Williams has helped to pass a dog tethering ordinance in the city of Phoenix.  Under the ordinance that went into effect July 1, 2016, dogs cannot be tethered during extreme weather conditions and the tether must be longer than 10 feet. People found guilty of breaking the law may face fines for a 1st offense or a class 1 misdemeanor for a 2nd offense.

I am a dog parent and an animal advocate. This law will help a lot in securing the wellness and health of our four-legged friend. Each time I saw a dog chained outside under the heat of the sun or snow, it really broke my heart. A dog is a man’s best friend. They are our protectors, our bodyguard, and our jogging buddy. So, for me, yes, it is right to treat them with love, care, and respect. Can you tell me more about this law?
