To the University of Missouri for cruelly inflicting pain and euthanizing docile beagle puppies.beagle

Puppy eyes can melt the most frigid person’s heart, especially if those eyes belong to a sweet, docile beagle. Horrifyingly, a medical study published in April has revealed that researchers at the University of Missouri intentionally destroyed the eyes of six beagles before ending their lives in the laboratory.

According to a recent news article, researchers are downplaying the euthanasia of the six puppies, who were part of a cornea study. Those puppies were not given the chance to be adopted after their testing was over, despite the reality that organizations like The Beagle Freedom Project (not associated with NHES) helps former laboratory beagles find homes after their use in research has come to an end.

Recently, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo passed The Beagle Bill, which requires research laboratories in New York to make canine test subjects available for adoption after getting a check-up from a veterinarian after their role in research concludes.

Take Action:  Missouri residents, please contact your legislators and petition that a law similar to New York’s Beagle Bill be passed in your state.
