Maryland Passes Anti Puppy Mill Bill - National Humane Education Society

Paws Up!
May 1, 2018

To Maryland Governor Larry Hogan for passing a bill to curb the sale of puppy-mill bred puppies in the state.

According to a recent news article, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan signed a bill into law that would prohibit Maryland pet shops from selling any any dog or cat, except for animals from local rescues, shelters, or local breeders with no history of violations of the Animal Welfare Act. This law aims to eventually phase out the sale of dogs and cats at pet shops, and cut the flow of cash from Maryland pet shops to puppy mills.

Take action. Maryland residents, contact Governor Hogan and thank him for signing this important bill into law. Feel free to use NHES’ sample action letter below.
