Lyndhurst Township in New Jersey Considering TNR Program to Curb Feral Cats - National Humane Education Society

Paws Up!

To the Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Board of Commissioners for introducing an ordinance to allow for Trap Neuter and Release (TNR) of feral cats.

According to a recent news article, the Lyndhurst Board of Commissioners has introduced an ordinance that would employ a
Trap, Neuter and Release program in order to humanely reduce the township’s feral cat population.

If passed, the ordinance would provide instructions and guidelines for trained cat caregivers who would be tasked with maintaining the feral cat colonies. These caregivers would be trained by the Bergen County Animal Shelter. After training, volunteer caregivers would trap the cats for spay and neuter surgeries and rabies vaccination. After which, caregivers would provide year-round food and shelter for the cats.

Take action. Residents of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, contact your Board of Commissioners and urge them to support an ordinance that would integrate TNR into the township’s animal control program.
