To supporters of a ballot initiative that would end restrictive confinement of calves, pigs, and hens in California farms.
According to a recent news article, the proposed “Prevention of Cruelty to Farm Animals Act” promote cage-free hens and reduce the restrictive confinement of calves and pigs in factory farms. In November 2018, the proposed ballot initiative would require that eggs produced and sold in California be from “cage-free” hens that have 1 square foot of space oer bird. By 2021, all farmers would have to provide a cage-free environment for egg-laying hens.
Furthermore, the law would require that all veal sold in California be sourced from farms that do not use veal creates. Gestation crates for pigs would also be prohibited. These measures would go into effect by December 31, 2019.
Take action. California residents, vote YES to pass the Prevention of Cruelty to Farm Animals Act.
